“Hey, calm down it’s just a song.”
“Why are you so excited? It’s just an album. No big deal…”
“Why do you love this song so much? It’s old and boring.”
“Why are you crying? It’s just a concert!”
“Calm down, IT’S JUST MUSIC!”
Well; it’s not just music. It’s much more than that. It’s not just a screaming, mosh pit of insanity. It’s not just some strings, some notes. It’s not just a million strangers congregating to scream their lungs out.
It’s family. It’s a million hearts beating as one, to the beat, to the soul pounding earth shattering sound of their inner selves. It’s a million lives colliding, a million eyes looking at the same thing, a million ears waiting for the same sound. This is where we feel alive. This is our heaven, our escape. We move as one, we think as one, we feel as one. Music is so much more to us than what people realize.
We cry at a song, we cry about a band member, we cry at a concert, because music has a special place in our hearts. It has changed our lives. It has helped us get through things that even our friends and family couldn’t. I cry because it saved my life. Without those bands, those singers, without their words, their melodies, without their music I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t. True story.
To us, it’s not just music, it’s so much more than that.
